
Requirements
Food Preparation:Â Kitchen hands assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.
Dishwashing:Â They are responsible for washing dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment, either by hand or using commercial dishwashing machines.
Cleaning and Sanitizing:Â Kitchen hands help maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen by cleaning countertops, floors, equipment, and storage areas, and ensuring that they meet health and safety standards.
Stocking and Restocking:Â They assist in stocking and restocking food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment to ensure that everything is readily available for use.
Assisting Chefs/Cooks:Â Kitchen hands support chefs and cooks by fetching ingredients, utensils, and equipment, and performing other tasks as directed to facilitate food preparation.
Waste Management:Â They handle food waste and recyclables properly, ensuring they are disposed of or recycled in accordance with waste management protocols and regulations.
Maintaining Kitchen Equipment:Â Kitchen hands may assist with basic maintenance tasks for kitchen equipment, such as cleaning and greasing machinery or changing dishwasher filters.
Following Health and Safety Procedures:Â They adhere to health and safety guidelines and regulations, including proper handling of food, equipment, and chemicals, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Teamwork:Â Kitchen hands work closely with chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff, so they need to be able to communicate effectively and collaborate as part of a team.
Flexibility:Â They may be required to perform various tasks as needed and adapt to changing priorities and demands in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
